19 days left...Time

Yep, that's right.  I'm thankful for time.

I'm thankful God thought of time in that great time/space continuum in which we live.  I'm glad He thought of eternity, too, but today I'm thankful for time.

That it gets divided up into smaller, more manageable segments like a year, like a season, like a month, like a week, like a day, like an hour, like a minute, like a second.

It seems like the word "year" should really be longer than only 4 letters.  In some ways, it can feel much longer than 4 letters represents.  In other ways, it an feel much shorter than 4 letters represents.  Especially if you are working on a project like starting a community garden.  G and I went to a meeting last night about this, and I'm quite frankly shell shocked at the amount of planning and work that goes into making a successful, productive community garden.  Things like clearing the land and a reliable water source.  And we are starting late for next year.  So the word "year" feels a bit shorter than 4 letters represents at the moment, and I have a whole new respect for gardeners and farmers.

But thankfully we deal in shorter segments than years.  We live in seasons - seasons of life, seasons of growing, seasons of the year.

We live in months - birthday months, holiday months, months of Sundays.

We live in weeks - weekly buckets, weekly meetings, week nights, weekends.

We live in days - mornings, evenings, breakfast time, lunch time, dinner time, snack time, "one day at a time" is still a great slogan from my Al-Anon days.

We live in hours, minutes and seconds, too, but I think you get my point.  And I'm thankful that we get smaller, more manageable chunks that we can wrap our minds around.

I'm thankful for other aspects of time, too.

Like time to sleep.

Like time to laugh and play.

Like time to bake.
Like time to learn.

Like time to dance.  In Grandma's shoes.

Like time to grow.

Like time for ice cream.

Like time to post and get to work!  Yep, I'm thankful for time.  And times - good times, and even the bad times, cause they teach us to appreciate the good times even more.

Time for pie in 8 days!!!
